Goodman Group Recruitment Case Study
Goodman is one the world's largest listed industrial property groups. The company is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and is also active in Asia and Europe. Goodman specialises in the ownership, development and management of industrial real estate (logistics and business parks).
Following a corporate relocation from Central London to Berkshire, a period of instability led to a number of individuals leaving the business. Harcourt Matthews was engaged to recruit an experienced divisional Financial Controller with expertise in the property fund management sector, to drive process and efficiency changes within the division and manage a newly formed team. Additionally, we were asked to support the recruitment of a newly created role for a recently qualified candidate to support the FD in several key cross-functional projects.
Our key aims were to identify market conditions for the Financial Controller role and understand specific technical and behavioural requirements for the Project Accountant role.
Using our extensive network in the Property Fund Services market, we undertook a number of activities including:
- Establishing a list of relevant companies to identify core candidates for headhunting
- Review of Harcourt Matthews recruitment database to access active and passive individuals
- Targeting relevant CV databases including Totaljobs, Cityjobs, eFinancialCareers and GAAPweb to identify suitable candidates
After an initial shortlisting and interviewing programme, a verbal offer was made inline with the original budget, unfortunately due to an improvement in the recruitment market and a higher offer, this was declined. On our advice, the salary level was improved to attract the right calibre of candidate, which led to the successful placement of a new Financial Controller through Harcourt Matthews. Harcourt Matthews continues to support the Goodman Group on financial recruitment requirements.
