Perform Group Recruitment Case Study

Perform Group are a VC backed online Media and Technology business supporting organisations such as Virgin Media, Chelsea FC, World Rally Championship, William Hill and FA Premier League. The organisation creates and manages digital sports & entertainment content and was ranked number 22 in the Sunday Times TechTrak 100 of the UK's fastest growing technology companies.

Due to rapid expansion within the organisation, the finance function was restructured to offer improved support to business operations, requiring several part-qualified candidates of high calibre to undertake mixed management accounting & financial analytical roles.

Harcourt Matthews was introduced to the business via a former candidate, who as the head of one of the finance functions, was seeking support in identifying very high calibre candidates available at short notice due to accelerated timescales of the business restructure.

Our recruitment approach encompassed the following actions:

  • An initial client telephone briefing was given, highlighting potential plans for business expansion, which allowed a preliminary passive search to be undertaken
  • CV searches were set up on several online CV databases including Reed, Monster, Cityjobs, and Totaljobs to generate a pool of candidates and identify key individuals who were active in the marketplace
  • Once the restructure was approved, a thorough face-to-face briefing confirmed the business outline, role specifics and remuneration packages
  • A full briefing document was constructed to sell the success story and capture candidate buy in

Within 3 weeks of the new roles being signed off, all the positions had been offered and accepted and a new team of 5 part-qualified Management Accountants (including one individual who joined on a temp-to-perm basis) now mirrors the operations structure of the business. Harcourt Matthews continues to enjoy a successful relationship with Perform as a preferred supplier on an exclusive basis.
