Job Description:

As a result of impressive business growth, the group is strengthening its presence in the north east of England and key to this is the recruitment of a Head of Concessions Finance to support the CFO. Heading up a significant finance team, this opportunity offers a varied brief encompassing:

  • Directorships on a portfolio of Concession/SPC Boards
  • Management of 35+ concession finance staff across the Newcastle and London offices undertaking specific finance function responsibilities including:
    • Orchestrating the forecasting, budgeting and tracking processes
    • Liaising with concession General Managers and Chief Executives
    • Developing and improving financial systems and procedures
    • Overseeing the provision of monthly concession reporting packs and ad hoc information to the shareholders, including:
      * Financial modelling
      *       Cash management
      *       Sales and purchase ledger accounting
      * Financial aspects of insurance matters
  • Accounting for Balfour Beatty on shareholder support arrangements
  • Management of the internal audit function
  • Technical support e.g. the conversion of UK GAAP to IFRS, where appropriate
  • Direct financial management services, drive efficiencies and ensure best practice for the portfolio of BB Capital's concession companies, whilst meeting all aspects of financial statutory regulatory reporting
  • Manage and improve controls and internal audit processes for BB Capital particularly regarding concessions
  • Responsibility for key training and staffing matters for the wider finance community of over 50 staff

Reporting to the CFO, you will also be liaising closely with Senior Managers and Board Directors of investments. Additionally you will manage key external relationships (clients of concessions, advisors, external auditors, other shareholders' Board members and finance departments) and internal relationships (other BB Capital finance and operations areas)

This broad ranging and challenging position requires an experienced qualified accountant, demonstrating a successful track record of achievement within a PFI/PPP/concessions and/or SPC/SPV environment or other related industry, and accustomed to working within a challenging, dynamic and changing business. As a technically strong individual with keen intellect, enthusiasm, excellent interpersonal skills and strength in leadership, you will be capable of influencing senior management, both internally and externally.
